The schedule of IPL 2025 has been revealed. The 17th season of IPL is to start on 22 March 2025, in which the opening match is to be played between KKR and RCB. After this, the Mumbai Indians team will take on CSK on 23 March. In this match, the Mumbai team can be captained not by Hardik Pandya, but by Rohit Sharma. Let us know the reason behind this.
Will Rohit Sharma captain MI in the first match of IPL 2025?
Hardik Pandya (Hardik Pandya Mumbai Indians IPL Ban) was penalized during IPL 2024. The Mumbai team clashed with Lucknow Super Giants in their last match of the group stage and in that match, Hardik was banned due to slow over rate. The Mumbai Indians team violated the IPL Code of Conduct three times. Due to this, Hardik was fined Rs 30 lakh and banned for one match.
This match was the last match of the Mumbai team, so the ban imposed on Hardik will now be completed in the first match of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. It was clearly stated in the official statement of IPL last year that Hardik will miss the first match of the next season for Mumbai Indians.
Now in the absence of Hardik, Rohit Sharma can be seen captaining Mumbai Indians. Apart from Rohit Sharma, the 5-time IPL champions team Mumbai Indians can also hand over the command of the team to Suryakumar Yadav. Surya can also replace Hardik.
