Health officials in India are keeping an eye on reports of a rise in COVID-19 cases in Singapore and Hong Kong. However, official sources on Monday claimed that the current coronavirus situation in the country is under control.

A review meeting of experts from the National Centre for Disease Control, Emergency Medical Relief Department, Disaster Management Cell, Indian Council of Medical Research, and Central Government Hospitals was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services. An official source in this regard said that the meeting concluded that the current Covid-19 situation in India is under control.

Only 257 cases in India

According to the data available till May 19, the current number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in India is 257, which is very low considering the large population of the country. Sources said that almost all of these cases are minor, which do not require hospitalization. Hospitals have been asked to monitor severe cases of influenza-like illnesses and respiratory infections.

The Union Health Ministry is vigilant and proactive in closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to protect public health. A new wave of COVID-19 has emerged in many parts of Asia.

More cases from variant JN1

Countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Thailand are reporting a significant increase in new infections. This time Omicron's new variant JN1 and its sub-variants LF7 and NB1.8 are being blamed for the corona infection. Alertness has increased among health officials regarding this.

According to Mid-Day, Mumbai's KEM Hospital on Monday clarified that the deaths of two patients in Mumbai were due to serious illnesses and had nothing to do with COVID-19. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the death of two COVID-19-infected patients, a 14-year-old girl and a 54-year-old woman, has been reported at King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Parel.

Actress Shilpa Shirodkar is Corona positive

However, hospital authorities have clarified that these deaths have not occurred due to COVID-19, but due to serious illnesses like hypocalcemic seizures and nephrotic syndrome with cancer. So there is no need for people to panic.

After the death of two patients at KEM Hospital, the hospital has shifted eight patients found positive for COVID-19 to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri late on Sunday night. At the same time, actress Shilpa Shirodkar's coronavirus test has come positive. She wrote on the internet media, 'Hello friends! My COVID test has come back positive. Stay safe and wear a mask!'
