New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS) The urban development ministry has approved the CPWD's 'maintenance charter' that specifies time frames in which complaints received by the agency will be resolved, a statement said Friday.
Introduced for the first time, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) charter will enhance service delivery in 1,76,000 houses along with 22,60,000 square metres of office space in 53 cities and prominent buildings like the President's Estate, Parliament House, Supreme Court among others.
The charter has been approved by Urban Development Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu.
"Under the charter, the CPWD is required to inform the public the time frames for attending to different complaints. It's an effort to streamline functioning of the agency," said the statement.
As per the charter, complaints of blocked drains, restoration of power and water supply, faulty switches, watering of plants, open manholes will be treated as "emergencies" and resolved within six hours.
Complaints pertaining to cleaning of drains, overflowing water,Aplumbing and sanitary installation etc. will be taken care of in three days.
Problems with internal wiring of building, repairing of gates, doors and windows will be resolved within 30 days while periodical services like painting, cleaning of water tanks etc. will be done within 60 days.
