CSK: Chennai CEO revealed, Dhoni played the whole season without complaining of injury, no soreness with Jadeja

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has undergone knee surgery. He is currently resting. After three weeks of rest, he will go to Ranchi and start training for his fitness. Although he will not start playing before January next year, the 41-year-old Dhoni's biggest challenge will be to regain fitness for the two-month-long IPL.

 

This information on Dhoni's fitness has been given by Kashi Vishwanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings. In a conversation with a sports website, Kashi talked about many important issues related to Chennai Super Kings. He told that Dhoni played the entire season of IPL 2023 with a knee injury and did not complain about it even once. After leading his team to the fifth IPL title, Dhoni said that he would go to Mumbai and undergo surgery. Now he has undergone surgery and is recovering.

 

"We never asked him things like 'do you want to play or do you want to sit outside,'" Kashi said. If he couldn't play, he would have told us straight away. We knew it was a struggle to play for him, but his commitment to the team, his leadership, and how it benefits the team is known to all. From that perspective, you have to applaud them. Until the final, he never complained about his knee to anyone. Even though everyone knew, and you would have seen him struggle while running, he didn't complain once. After the final, he said, 'Okay, I'll have the surgery.' He has completed his surgery, he is very happy, and he is recovering well."

 

After the final Dhoni agreed to retire after winning the title. He said it would be the "best time" to retire, but is open to returning for "at least" one more season if his body allows. It would be a "gift" to his fans, even if it meant training "harder" for the next nine months. After three weeks of rest after the surgery, Dhoni will soon start his rehab.

 

Viswanathan said, "In fact, he told us immediately after the final was over that he would go to Mumbai, undergo surgery and go back to Ranchi for rehab. In Mumbai, after Rituraj's wedding [on June 4], I went to meet him. He is very comfortable. He said he will rest for three weeks and then start his rehab. And as he said, he will not play till January-February. We don't need to remind him of all this.

 

"He knows what to do, how to go about it, so we won't ask him 'what are you going to do, how' etc. He'll inform us on his own. Whatever he's doing, he'll call And will inform only N Srinivasan, not anyone else. He will talk directly with him. From him, we will get an idea of what he is doing. It has been going on like this since 2008. This is how it will continue "

 

Viswanathan also dismissed any talk of any rift between Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni. Ever since Jadeja was dropped from the captaincy midway through the season last year, there were reports of all being not well between the two. These rumors intensified when Jadeja had to leave the camp with an injury. Supposedly this season, the "We Want Dhoni!" Jadeja was also irritated by the slogan Every time he came out to bat. Then came the video of Jadeja and Dhoni in an animated chat after the CSK clash in Delhi, where Jadeja went wicketless for 50 runs in four overs. Soon after, Viswanathan himself was seen having a long discussion with Jadeja. Then there were some cryptic tweets on "karma" and some direct tweets, like sponsors appreciated but not fans.

 

Viswanathan said, "As far as Jadeja is concerned, he bowled brilliantly. When batting, with our line-up of Rituraj, Conway, Moeen, and Rahane, whenever he [Jadeja] went out to bat, he had 5 runs. -10 balls left. In such situations, it may or may not click. But the thing is, he also knew Dhoni was going to come next, and he sometimes just 2-3 balls Used to play. So whenever he walked in, Dhoni was greeted by the crowd. He felt hurt by it. That could be the pressure on any player, for that matter. But he didn't complain about it, even though He did a tweet.
