So far 21 cases have been reported in India, due to which people are again panicking. The World Health Organization also says the risk of JN-1 is low based on current evidence.
Instructions to states to increase surveillance
According to WHO, the JN.1 sub-variant of coronavirus was earlier considered to be the type of BA.2.86. However, in the past few weeks, JN.1 cases have been reported in more than 40 countries.
