Delhi Air Pollution: Slight improvement in the poisonous air of Delhi, know what was the AQI after Dussehra

Before Diwali, people celebrate the festival of Dussehra with great joy. A lot of Ravanas are burnt everywhere and fireworks are done. Meanwhile, the people living in Delhi-NCR are worried about pollution. But this Dussehra, even after burning Ravana and bursting crackers, there was no significant impact on the air quality of Delhi.

 

There was an improvement in Delhi's air quality on Wednesday morning compared to Tuesday. According to Safar India, the overall air quality index (AQI) in Delhi is 190, which is in the 'moderate' category. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 303 on Tuesday morning. At the same time, the overall air quality index (AQI) in Noida is at 218, which is in the 'poor' category.

 

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in Ghaziabad's Indirapur was recorded at 158. Whereas, AQI 268 has been recorded in Gurugram Sector 51. AQI 320 has been recorded in Faridabad Sector 11.

 

Delhi's air quality index was recorded at 263 on Monday. Which was in a bad category. At the same time, there was a decrease in the 50 index as compared to Sunday. The air was in the very poor category in three areas and the poor category in 27. Also, in NCR, Greater Noida had the highest air quality, while Gurugram recorded the lowest.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that we are analyzing our data, and it shows that PM10 - dust pollution - is reducing in Delhi. The anti-dust campaign has been launched across Delhi and focus is being placed on all areas. Water is being sprayed. Therefore, PM 10 is decreasing but PM 2.5 is increasing. Pollution caused by vehicles and pollution caused by burning biomass outside play a major role in this. Keeping this in mind, we have called a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat regarding the preparations. Public awareness campaign - 'Red Light On, Vehicle Off' which will be started from 26th October.

 

The Environment Minister said that I think comparatively, this time during Dussehra, less number of firecrackers were burst. I would once again like to request the states to ban (firecrackers) in Delhi-NCR as it is easily available to the people in their states. I think if NCR states also ban it, it will have a better impact on Delhi.

 

Meanwhile, on stubble burning, AAP Minister Gopal Rai Ka said that stubble burning is being done but the number of such cases is less. However, it is estimated that these cases will increase around October 30. It remains to be seen what kind of people they are and what impact the steps taken in Punjab have had.
