Election Commissioner: Fake social media posts are becoming a challenge for fair elections… said CEC Rajeev Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Tuesday said fake social media posts are affecting free and fair elections and are becoming a common challenge for all election management bodies. CEC Rajeev Kumar said this during his meeting with the delegation led by German Foreign Minister Annalena Bierbock in Delhi today.

 

Rajeev Kumar said that democracy is deeply rooted in the traditions of India. He said that a robust electoral process has been ensured to conduct free, fair, inclusive elections in India. For this, more than one crore polling personnel have been deployed, he said, adding that the Election Commission ensures the participation of political parties at every stage.

 

Social media narrative becoming a common challenge

The Chief Election Commissioner said during this time that fake social media narratives potentially affecting free and fair elections are emerging as a common challenge for most of the election management bodies.

 

Appreciated by the German Foreign Minister

During this, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bierbock praised the Election Commission for election management despite the challenges of diverse geographical, cultural, and electorate in the world's largest democratic country India. During this, the Election Commission briefed the German delegation about voter participation and the election process.
