The results of the Lok Sabha elections are going to be announced today. A day before this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar claimed that the counting process is strong and the process has been codified so that no mistake can be found in it. At the same time, he also targeted those who questioned the delay in releasing the final voting percentage during the seven-phase general elections.
We failed to understand the fake story...
Without naming anyone, Rajiv Kumar said on Monday, 'We failed to understand the false story being spread about wrong voter lists and voting figures during the elections. But we have understood it now.'
This is the matter
It is worth noting that Congress had raised questions on the big difference between the real-time voting percentage figures and the final figures released by the Election Commission. It said that it is upset with the strange events in the voter election body. At the same time, other opposition parties had also raised questions about the delay in releasing the final voting percentage.
CEC explained the process
The Election Commissioner also said that the counting of postal ballots will start before the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He further said, 'Section 54A of the Representation of the People Act was introduced in 1954. At that time there were not many people for postal ballots. But now the counting of postal ballots will start first at all the centers. Half an hour after that, the counting of EVMs will start first. This happened in 2019, it happened in all the 2022 assembly elections, it also happened in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim yesterday.'
Present evidence
Rajeev Kumar challenged the opposition to share evidence regarding the allegations that the election process was influenced by the election officers and district magistrates so that the Commission could take action against them.
There can be no mistake in the process
He further said, 'The entire process of counting of votes is completely strong. We do not think there is such a strong system anywhere. Every part is fixed. The entire process has been codified. Micro observers have been appointed. There can be no mistake in this process. Lakhs of people including counting officials, counting agents, micro-observers, ROs/AROs, and supervisors were present during the world's largest vote-counting exercise. All candidates and agents were present to see who was present at the booth.'
