Exports: Exports up 23.5 percent, trade deficit widens to a record $ 26.18 billion

The country's exports of goods have increased by 23.52 percent to $ 40.13 billion in June 2022. Imports during this period increased by 57.55% to $66.31 billion. The country's trade deficit widened by 172.7% to a record $26.18 billion in June, driven by an increase in imports. There was a trade deficit of $ 9.60 billion in June 2021.

 

According to government data, exports grew by 24.51% to $118.96 billion in the April-June quarter. Imports also increased by 49.47% to $189.76 billion. The trade deficit widened to $70.80 billion from $31.42 billion.

Gem-jewelry exports up 21.41 percent

 

Gems and jewelery exports grew by 21.41% to Rs 25,295 crore in June. It was 20,835 crore in the same month a year ago. Exports grew by 14.6 percent in April-June.
