According to Siraj-ul-Haq, chief of Pakistan's biggest political and religious party, Jamiat-e-Islami, 4 thousand billion rupees are deposited in the banks of 18 people of the country. Haq claimed that he had a complete list of the names of these people. He also said that Pakistan is on the verge of bankruptcy and these people can save the country from bankruptcy if they wish.
Siraj is considered close to Imran Khan. Recently, he also met Khan at his Zaman Park residence. Pakistan currently has a debt of $100 billion. The inflation rate has reached close to 40%. The government has foreign deposits of just $2.7 billion.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has revealed that an officer's daughter got Rs 1 billion 20 crores (Pakistani currency) only as a cash gift at her wedding.
According to Siraj, whose money is in the banks?
Generally, people in Pakistan are afraid to accuse politicians and soldiers. Siraj-ul-Haq did not hesitate at all in this matter. During a press conference in Islamabad, the chief of Jamiat said – only 18 Pakistanis can save the country from bankruptcy. About 4 thousand billion rupees are deposited in their different banks.
Haq further said – I have a list of all these people. These include politicians, army officers, judges, and bureaucrats. Now the time has come for these people to sacrifice for the country, withdraw money from their accounts and invest in improving the country's economy.
Siraj said in response to a question – Today there is a situation of do or die for Pakistan. If these people do not save the country today, then they will probably never get this chance. The inflation rate has reached 40%. The government has proved to be useless.
Siraj, who did the politics of religion, further said – What is the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government led by Shahbaz Sharif doing? Flour has become 160 rupees per kg. A person who has 12 members in his house, how will he feed them? The burden is being put on the poor every day. Now the situation has become such that the government is considering imposing tax even on breathing.
What did the IMF say?
Pakistan is seeking a bailout package of $6.5 billion from the IMF. The IMF team stayed in Islamabad for 10 days in early February but returned without releasing the $1.2 billion tranche.
Talking to Pakistan's newspaper 'The Express Tribune', IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said – Pakistan will have to collect taxes properly and it should be seen that it is spending tax money on the betterment of the poor. All kinds of subsidies have to be ended.
The director further said - It is surprising that in Pakistan with a population of 22 crores, 22% of people live below the poverty line. 49.6% of the country's income goes into the pockets of 20% of the people. Only 7% of money reaches 20% poor.
Officer's daughter got 1 billion 20 crore rupees cash as a gift
On February 22, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khwaja Asif made a very shocking disclosure. Asif had said- Recently the daughter of a bureaucrat of Pakistan got married. We have a ritual called 'Salami'. In this, parents, relatives, and guests give gifts to the married couple. The bride alone got Rs 72 crore (Pakistan currency).
Asif had further said – He was not even a very big officer. You will be surprised that the same officer got his elder daughter married last year and then his daughter got Rs 1.20 billion in the salami ceremony. Big leaders of Imran Khan's party and Parvez Elahi, who was the CM of Punjab province till last month, also participated in that marriage.
Asif says- I had talked about that marriage with Parvez. He told me- I asked a person who was collecting gifts for the wedding how much money has been received so far. He said - 72 crores have been received. The counting of the rest continues. Money was being stuffed in sacks.
