After this incident, the student became so upset and embarrassed that she reached home and set herself on fire. The 9th student has suffered 95% burns. His condition is serious. At present, he has been admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH).
The case is of Shardamani Girls High School in Chhayanagar, Sitaramdera. It is alleged that on Friday, on suspicion of copying, teacher Chandra Das took off the clothes of Ritu Mukhi (15 years) and investigated. The class IX student was so hurt that as soon as she came home, she set herself on fire by sprinkling kerosene in the school dress itself. The girl, engulfed in flames, came out of the house on the road and fell unconscious. People put out the fire by pouring water. Then immediately took him to MGM Hospital. He was referred to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) with around 95 percent burns.
A case has been registered against teacher Chandra Das. As of now, no arrest has been made. The school management has also said that the matter will be investigated. The school has been closed for two days. The exam has also been postponed for the time being.
