Umran Malik, who hails from Jammu, was once asked by former Assam Ranji team coach Ajay Ratda to let his players practice after seeing his ball speed. Referring to an incident with Dainik Bhaskar, Umran coach Randhir Singh says that in 2019, the Assam team had come to Jammu to play a match with Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Umran was not given a place in the Ranji team of Jammu and Kashmir. He was bowling on the ground. The team of Assam included their players with them for the practice of fast bowling. Umran had just bowled 4 balls and Assam coach Ratada stopped bowling after seeing the pace and asked that Assam players should not get injured before the match on his ball. Ratda also expressed surprise over Umran not being included in the team and called Umran and said, 'Don't worry, you will become India's speed one day.'

 

The coach advised to focus on bowling

 

Coach Randhir Singh said, 'Umran came to me at the age of 17. When he came, his speed was very good. Other batsmen were afraid to play his ball. Umran did not come regularly. After seeing his speed, I told him to focus and practice regularly. After which Umran started coming to practice continuously. A few days later, he was selected for the Under-19 team.

 

Abdul Samad made a video and sent it to his IPL team

Randhir Singh says that Abdul Samad, who was in the team of Sun Risers Hyderabad, used to train in the stadium with permission from the government during the lockdown caused by Corona in the year 2020. During that time he used to take Umran to practice batting.

 

When asked by the Sunrisers coaching staff about Samad's better shot on fast bowlers, he said that his academy has a bowler with a lot of speed. Practice on the same ball. After this, the team management asked Samad for a video of that bowler's bowling. After sending Samad's video, the team management included Umran as a net bowler so that his batsmen could practice on first bowling.

Randhir Singh explains that in the second season of IPL in UAE in the last season, Umran was included as a fast bowler after Sunrisers fast bowler T Natarajan got corona infected after that Umran did not look back and with his fast bowling Took everyone's attention to himself. Randhir Singh told that Umran's father Abdul Rashid Malik did not want his son to sell vegetables and fruits like him. That's why he never stopped Umran from playing cricket with friends. Umran's father has a fruit and vegetable shop at Shaheedi Chowk in Jammu. It is handled by Umran's father and uncle.
