
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with the President of Argentina Alberto Fernandez. They discussed the possibility of bilateral cooperation in defense and nuclear energy along with ambitious measures to strengthen and make trade ties between the two countries.
Significantly, Jaishankar is on his first official visit to three Latin American countries. He also met the President as well as Finance Minister Sergio Massa here on Thursday and exchanged views on economic cooperation.
Jaishankar's meeting with the President of Argentina
The Foreign Minister tweeted, 'Glad to meet Sergio Massa, Finance Minister of Argentina. His positive approach to expanding our economic cooperation is commendable.
He also met President Fernandez. After meeting the President, S Jaishankar tweeted, "Thank you President Alberto Fernandez for welcoming me. Congratulations from PM Narendra Modi too.
Emphasis on enhancing bilateral cooperation between India-Argentina
During this, the two leaders held talks on strengthening the bilateral partnership. Jaishankar discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, including making trade channels more sustainable and ambitious. They also exchanged views on energy and food security. They discussed the importance of affordable healthcare including pharmaceuticals. Also, the two leaders exchanged views on defense cooperation as well as the possibilities of nuclear energy.
Jaishankar on his first visit to South America
Jaishankar is on a visit to Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina to promote trade, investment, and cooperation in key areas with India. This is his first visit to South America. Earlier, Jaishankar traveled to Paraguay and Brazil and reached Argentina on the last leg of the trip.
