Effect of movement seen in Uttarakhand
The effect of the fierce agitation by farmers against the central government was also seen in Uttarakhand on Monday. On the Doon-Delhi highway, farmers in Biharigarh of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, etc. stopped the traffic by placing tractors on the road.
Due to this, the Transport Corporation buses sent from Doon to Delhi, Saharanpur, Meerut, etc. remained stuck in the jam for hours. However, no bus returned, but the problems of the passengers increased as the buses got stuck in the jam.
The General Manager of the Transport Corporation said this
The same was the situation for buses going towards Delhi from Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh and Kotdwar depots. The buses reached Delhi late by hours due to jams at various places on the way, due to which the schedule of buses in Delhi got completely disturbed.
Transport Corporation General Manager Deepak Jain said that the drivers and conductors were ordered not to operate the buses forcefully during the movement and to take the buses as far as they could reach safely. At the same time, due to the farmers' movement, the operation of buses going towards Punjab has also been significantly affected. Services to Ludhiana including Jalandhar and Amritsar continue to be affected.
