Just before Holi, on Wednesday, the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath distributed a subsidy of Rs 1890 crore for gas cylinder refill to 1.86 crore eligible families of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This scheme was inaugurated by CM Yogi by pressing the button in the Lok Bhavan Auditorium in Lucknow. During this, the ministers in charge of all the districts of the state also participated in the program through video conferencing. The Chief Minister said that earlier one had to pay a bribe for gas connection, whereas now this facility has been made available free of cost to 10 crore families in the country. Along with this, gas cylinders are also being given free on Holi Diwali. He said that this time Holi and Ramzan are together, so all people will get the benefit of this scheme.
The government is committed to the welfare of the poor.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in his address that the Ujjwala Yojana was started in 2016, under which 10 crore families across the country got free LPG connections. About 2 crore people in Uttar Pradesh have benefited from this scheme. He said that in 2021 we had promised that if the government is formed in 2022, free gas cylinders will be given on Holi and Diwali. Since then this scheme has been running every year so that people can celebrate festivals and festivals well. This time Holi and Ramzan are both together, so everyone will get its benefit.
First bribe, now free connection
Recalling the old days, the CM said that earlier a bribe of 25-30 thousand rupees had to be given for a gas connection and cylinders were not available even on festivals. He stressed that this scheme has been started to save poor mothers from smoke and no one is being discriminated against in this.
15 crore people are getting free ration
The Chief Minister said that 80 thousand ration dealers in UP are distributing free ration to 15 crore people through 3 crore 60 lakh ration card holders. In 2017, transparency was brought in ration distribution through e-POS machines, which stopped black marketing. When people were troubled during the Covid period, it has been five consecutive years since then, every month 80 crore people in the country and 15 crore people in UP are being given free ration.
Many schemes are also running for daughters and farmers.
CM Yogi said that the government is working with commitment to the welfare of the poor, farmers, and daughters. So far, 22 lakh daughters in the state are being given assistance of Rs 25,000 per daughter for studies, while 4 lakh daughters have been married under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme. From April, assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be given for the marriage of daughters. At the same time, after the results of the board examinations, scooties will be provided to meritorious daughters and residential facilities will also be provided to working women in the name of Ahilyabai Holkar. At the same time, the purchase rate of wheat for farmers has been increased by Rs 150 to Rs 2425 per quintal.
More than 2 thousand Annapurna buildings are being constructed
The CM said that ration shops in rural areas are now being developed as Annapurna Bhawan, where essential goods, a facility to deposit electricity bills, and a warehouse will be arranged. More than 2 thousand Annapurna buildings are under construction. Online income, caste, birth-death certificates are also being given through village secretariats.
The CM mentioned the progress of UP and Mahakumbh.
The Chief Minister said that UP was once a sick state, but today it has become the second-largest economy of the country. Apart from this, India will become the third-largest economy in the world by 2027. Discussing the recently concluded Mahakumbh, he said that more than 66 crore 30 lakh people participated in it, which shows the strength of UP. He said that the collectiveness displayed by the officers and employees of all the departments of the state in Mahakumbh has created a good impression of the state all over the world.
Chief Minister's appeal
The Chief Minister appealed that those who have not yet registered for the Ujjwala scheme should get themselves registered. He appealed to everyone to celebrate Holi peacefully. At the end of the program, the Chief Minister took pictures with the beneficiaries and officials of the gas-providing companies. On this occasion, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, Cabinet Minister Satish Chandra Sharma, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLC Mukesh Sharma, Ramchandra Pradhan, Engineer Avneesh, MLAs Neeraj Vohra, Yogesh Shukla, Jaidevi, Surendra Maithani, public representatives and state government officials and Food and Logistics Department officials were present in this program organized in all 75 districts of the state.
Symbolic cheques handed over to 10 beneficiaries
In the program, the Chief Minister provided symbolic cheques to 10 beneficiaries. These included Mamta Mishra, Rampata, Rahnuma Begum, Rubina, Shweta Singh, Rupa, Sonam Shukla, Gudiya, Mamta and Shikha Gautam. On this occasion, one video related to Ujjwala Yojana and Maha Kumbh was also shown.
