Posted on 5th Sep 2025 02:19 pm by rohit kumar

A post by the Kerala unit of the Congress has stirred up a political storm, comparing Bihar with a bidi. The post was made on the social media platform X, which was later removed. It linked the reduction in GST rates on bidi by the central government to Bihar.

The post read, "Both bidi and Bihar start with 'B'. Now it cannot be considered a sin." Along with this, information about revised GST rates on cigarettes, bidis, and tobacco was shared.

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala shared this deleted post from his X handle and accused the Congress of crossing the line. He wrote, "Congress has crossed the line again. After abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother, now Bihar has been compared to a bidi! Does Tejashwi Yadav accept this? From Revanth Reddy to DMK and Congress - their hatred towards Bihar is clearly visible."

At the same time, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary called it an insult to the whole of Bihar. He wrote, "First the insult of our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi's revered mother, now the insult of entire Bihar.. this is the real character of Congress, which is being exposed again and again in front of the country."

Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Sanjay Kumar Jha called it "another shameful act" of Congress. He wrote in Hindi, "B does not only mean bidi, it also means intelligence, which you do not have. B also means budget, on which you feel jealous when Bihar got special assistance. Jha said that by mocking Bihar, Congress has not only insulted the people of Bihar, but also mocked the glorious history and democracy of the country.
