Amid Israel's bombardment in Gaza, once again a consensus could not be reached on the ceasefire in the United Nations Security Council meeting. On Wednesday, America and Russia made two separate proposals in the UNSC. But both were rejected. Where America vetoed Russia's proposal. At the same time, China and Russia rejected America's proposal using their veto power.
America had called for a humanitarian pause in its resolution, but not a ceasefire. It was also asked to ensure that any resolution passed by the Security Council blames Hamas for the violence in Israel and Gaza. At the same time, Russia's proposal focused on a ceasefire in Gaza. The United States, Albania, France, Ecuador, Gabon, Ghana, Japan, Malta, Switzerland, and Britain voted in favor of the US resolution. Brazil and Mozambique abstained from voting.
At the same time, four votes were cast in favor of Russia's resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, which also includes Russia and China. The US and Britain voted against the resolution, while nine other members abstained. If the Russian proposal got enough votes to approve it, the US could veto it.
Russian envoy calls American proposal politically motivated
Russia's Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has accused the US of trying to block UNSC decisions so that there is no impact on Israel's attack on Gaza. He criticized the US resolution for failing to call for a ceasefire and for not including condemnation of attacks on civilians in Gaza. He said that the clear purpose of this document, which is completely politically motivated, is not to save civilians in Gaza, but to strengthen America's political position in the region.
After America's proposal was rejected, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan said that he wanted to thank America and other members of this council who supported this proposal. The resolution condemns brutal terrorists and empowers member states to defend themselves against terrorism. It shows that despite all the lies spread in the halls of the United Nations, there are still people who stand up for the values of freedom and security.
A major military operation is needed to crush the barbaric terrorists.
He said that in Israel, we are fighting for our survival. If a similar genocide occurs in any country, it will face it with much more force than Israel. There is a need for a major military operation against the terrorists who commit such barbaric and inhuman atrocities, to eliminate their terrorist capabilities and ensure that such brutal attacks never happen again.
