New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee Monday said that the fundamental tenet of the government is development for all, adding that it had pledged to work for the welfare of the poor, marginalised and the vulnerable.
Addressing the members of the two houses of parliament at the start of the budget session, Mukherjee said that the government had taken several initiatives including smart cities, skill development, ease of doing business and tapping the country's demographic dividend.
"The fundamental tenet (of the government) is 'sab ka saath, sab ka vikas' (taking everyone along, development for all)," he said.
"My government is pledged to work for the welfare of the poor, marginalized and the vulnerable sections of the society," he added.
Mukherjee also said that "Within the past nine months, my government has articulated and embarked on a comprehensive strategy for harnessing the full potential of our economy and its precious resource of 125 crore people."
