Surat
Coronavirus cases have increased rapidly in Surat, Gujarat since last week. There has been a shortage of hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, medicine, and even 108 ambulances. There are reports of patients not getting treatment and deaths all around. In the news of lack of treatment, now a shortage of morgue vehicles has also come to the fore.
In Alam City, there is a lack of dead bodies to carry the dead bodies and many bodies are being carried in each vehicle. Vehicles take several bodies simultaneously and unload them at different crematoriums. If people believe this kind of situation, they will never see them.
Dead bodies are busy for 24 hours
The government and NGO vans are busy transferring bodies from various hospitals, while those who die at home are being transferred in private vehicles as vans are not available in any morgue. Previously, the morgue van used to be available on a phone call but now the vans are busy round the clock due to the increasing number of deaths in hospitals.
Waiting on the outside of the crematorium
A morgue of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) arrived at Kurukshetra crematorium (KC) with seven dead bodies. The bodies were packed in body bags. All the bodies were kept in the van. After about an hour, the dead bodies were taken out to perform the last rites, as the gases were not empty.
No seating for relatives and family
Earlier, these carcasses had a place to lay dead bodies in the middle and a long bench to sit around, in which the family and relatives of the deceased used to sit. Now, these seats have been removed and the vehicles have been completely made to contain the carcasses. As many bodies as can come in these vehicles at once, as many bodies are being kept so that maximum bodies can reach the crematorium.
Pressure to carry as many bodies as possible on a trip
An autopsy driver said that we are just following orders. So many people are dying in a day and it is necessary to carry as many bodies as possible on each trip. Mehul Surti said, 'My aunt was hospitalized for the last five days, but she died. His body was brought to the crematorium with six other bodies. '
What did you say?
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Municipal Commissioner NV Upadhyay said, "I do not know if many bodies are being moved in the same van." If there is any complaint, I will investigate it. ' Apart from the morgue van, the crematorium is also full of crowds for the cremation of the dead bodies.
