Two women tourists have died after a raft capsized in the Beas river near Bashing, six km from the district headquarters of Kullu. Four other tourist women aboard the raft were injured. The injured are being treated at the district hospital. Police have started the investigation by registering a case.
According to the information, women tourists from Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai, who came to visit Kullu-Manali, boarded a raft from the rafting site at Babeli. Later in the afternoon, a raft full of female tourists overturned uncontrollably near Churudu of Bashing and the women were washed away in the Beas river. After the raft overturned, the rescue team pulled the women out of the water and took them to Kullu Hospital.
The condition of two female tourists worsened and they succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the District Hospital Kullu. The deceased women have been identified as Rukia Dahod wala (75) wife Ghulam Abbas resident of Cotton Green Mumbai and Sakura Bombay wala (53) wife Shabbir Hussain Bombay wala resident of 385 Murani Nagar Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The injured include Maryam's wife Zainuddin Indore, Nafisa wife Firoz Indore, Rashida wife Qutubdeen Turla Indore, and Tasneem wife Kheriwala resident of Cotton Green. The condition of one of the injured women is said to be critical. SP Gurdev Sharma said that a case has been registered and an investigation has been started.
