Over 300 Muslims, including Congress workers from various villages in Bharuch, a former Congress stronghold, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday. BJP MLA Arun Singh Rana welcomed the new members including Sarpanch Ghulam Patel of Bambusar village by wearing a saffron dupatta.

Rana said I am thrilled because Muslims have started approaching us to join the BJP. Bharuch region was a strong stronghold of Congress and now people have left the party to join BJP as they want development. BJP general secretary Digvijayasinh Chudasama, BJP minority wing leaders Salim Khan Pathan and Mustafa Khoda also attended the event, organized in Muslim-dominated Bambusar village, 19 km from Bharuch city.

The new members were from the villages of Bambusar, Velediya, Walej, Segwa, Kahan, Chipphon, Luwara, Janod Samrod, and Kothi. The motto of BJP is Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas and Sauno Vishwas.
