
The complete schedule for the T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year, has been released. The tournament will begin on February 7th and the final will be played on March 8th. A total of 20 teams will participate in the tournament.
Now, all 20 countries are preparing to assemble their best teams. In this regard, news has emerged that defending champions India may soon announce their T20 World Cup squad. According to a report in the Times of India, the BCCI could announce the team on December 20th. The team, which will begin its T20 World Cup campaign on February 7th, will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav.
Last match on December 19th
Currently, the Indian T20I team is busy with a five-match T20 series against South Africa. The last match of the series will be played on December 19th. India is leading the series 2-1. The fourth match was abandoned due to fog. After this, the Indian team will play a T20I series against New Zealand in January, where they will have the opportunity to assess their preparations for the T20 World Cup.
Teams have been divided into four groups:
Group A: India, USA, Namibia, Netherlands, Pakistan
Group B: Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman
Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy, Nepal
Group D: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, United Arab Emirates

Based on recent performances, several young players are in contention for a place in the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century in the ODI series. He also scored a century while playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Ruturaj Gaikwad has also put forward a strong claim with his impressive performances. Shreyas Iyer is currently undergoing rehabilitation after an injury. There will be tough competition between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma for a spot in the team.
