According to a report in the Times of India, the BCCI could announce the team on December 20th. The team, which will begin its T20 World Cup campaign on February 7th, will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav.

Currently, the Indian T20I team is busy with a five-match T20 series against South Africa. The last match of the series will be played on December 19th. India is leading the series 2-1. The fourth match was abandoned due to fog. After this, the Indian team will play a T20I series against New Zealand in January, where they will have the opportunity to assess their preparations for the T20 World Cup.
Teams have been divided into four groups:
Group A: India, USA, Namibia, Netherlands, Pakistan
Group B: Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Oman
Group C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy, Nepal
Group D: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada, United Arab Emirates
