The plan for metro connectivity from Gurugram's Palam Vihar area to Delhi's Dwarka Sector-21 was brainstormed on Wednesday evening at the PWD Rest House here. Chief Minister Manohar Lal discussed each topic with the officials. It was decided in the meeting that a study would be conducted to lay underground lines for the last one and a half kilometers in the Delhi part.
The study report will be submitted in 15 days. After this, the final project report will be prepared. There is a plan to expand the Delhi Metro in Old Gurugram. A corridor of about 37 km is to be developed beyond HUDA City Center Metro Station.
Like the Ringmann system, the corridor will pass through the old Gurugram area and connect to the Rapid Metro station in front of Ambience Mall. The state government wants to develop a corridor from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector-21 to connect Gurugram to Dwarka as well. In this direction, the Chief Minister held a meeting with the concerned officials. Once the corridor is developed, most areas of Gurugram will be connected by metro. The proposed metro line from Palam Vihar to Dwarka Sector-21 will benefit the people of Gurugram as well as the people of West Delhi.
It will be connected to DMRC's Blue Line. It will have a total of seven stations. Out of these, four stations within the limits of Gurugram district will be made Rejangla Chowk, Chauma, Sector-110, and Sector-111 in the Palam Vihar area, while three stations in the Delhi area will be made Dwarka Sector-28, Dwarka Sector-25, and Dwarka Sector-21. Palam Vihar and Dwarka Sector-21 will be interchange stations. RITES officials gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding the project. The project will cost around Rs 2,281 crore.
