
Amid the violent protests in Nepal, an Indian volleyball team has been safely evacuated by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. According to the information, the embassy was in constant touch with the team and made arrangements to take them to a safe place. The government took swift action after TV presenter Upasana Gill appealed for help on social media. So far, 34 people have died in the violence.

TV presenter and volleyball league host Upasana Gill made an emergency video through social media and appealed to the Indian government to save her and the team. She said that her hotel had caught fire and she had escaped from the attack of the violent mob. Upasana said, 'I am stuck in Pokhara, the hotel has been burnt, all my belongings were there. I was in the spa when people came with big sticks. I barely managed to save my life.' Upasana Gill said in the video shared with Praful Garg that the situation here is very bad.
Upasana had said, 'Roads are being set on fire everywhere. The protesters are not even sparing tourists. They do not care whether someone is a tourist or someone who has come for work. They are setting fire everywhere without thinking. We do not know how long we will stay in some other hotel. But I request the Indian Embassy to please send this video and message to them. I request all of you with folded hands. Help us. There are many people here with me, and we are all stranded here.' Her emergency appeal went viral on social media, which prompted the Indian Embassy to take immediate action.
Quick action by the Indian Embassy
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu got in touch with Upasana and the team and took them to a safe place. The embassy shifted the affected players to a safe place in Kathmandu. Most of the team members have returned to India, while arrangements are being made for the return of the remaining members.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has issued emergency numbers for all Indian citizens in Nepal regarding the situation in Nepal. The embassy said that they can contact: +977- 980 860 2881, +977- 981 032 6134 in case of facing any emergency or needing assistance. The Ministry of External Affairs has said that Indian citizens are advised to exercise caution and follow the steps and guidelines issued by the Nepalese authorities.
How the movement started
The Gen-Z movement, which started on Monday after the ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, became more violent despite the government lifting the ban. Defying curfew and heavy security arrangements in the capital Kathmandu, the protesters set fire and vandalized Singh Durbar, Parliament House, Supreme Court, Special Court, President's residence, houses of top leaders, and offices of various parties. Singh Durbar has been completely reduced to ashes. It includes the offices of the PM and ministers. PM Oli's private houses in Balkot and Janakpur, former PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka's Budhanilkanth house, and Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa's Ratopul residence were targeted.
