Even after the turmoil in Venezuela, Trump's stance remains unwavering. He has threatened Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez. Trump says that if Delcy doesn't do what's right, she may have to pay an even higher price than Maduro.
Delcy Rodríguez, who has been Venezuela's vice president since 2018, has been appointed interim president of the country. Following the attack on Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are in a New York prison. Meanwhile, Trump has issued another ultimatum to Venezuela.
Trump's Warning to Delcy
During an interview with The Atlantic magazine, Trump said, "If she doesn't do what's right, she'll pay a heavy price. Perhaps even heavier than Maduro."
During the political crisis in Venezuela, Trump praised Delcy and agreed to her appointment as interim president. However, after assuming power, Delcy made it clear that Maduro would remain the de facto president of Venezuela and that her country would protect its natural resources.
Ready for a Second Attack: Trump
Trump warned Delcy that if she doesn't cooperate with the US, Venezuela could face another attack. According to Trump,
"We are dealing with people who have just taken office. We are also ready for a second attack. All preparations have been made, but we don't think it will be necessary. We will hold elections in Venezuela when the time is right."
Trump has clearly stated to Venezuela, "The US wants complete control over Venezuela's oil and other resources. Whatever happens after the change of power in Venezuela will be for the better. Things can't get any worse than they are now."
An ultimatum was given to 4 countries
Besides Venezuela, Trump also gave ultimatums to several other countries, saying, "We want Greenland too. Cuba is also ready to surrender. I don't think we'll need any action there. Colombia is in the hands of a sick man who won't last long. We'll have to do something about Mexico as well."
