Indian team's star batsman Virat Kohli can register a special achievement in his name during the three-match ODI series against England. This 36-year-old batsman will have a chance to score 14000 runs in ODIs at the fastest pace. Former Indian team's legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar achieved this in his 350th ODI innings in 2006. At that time Sachin scored a century against Pakistan in Peshawar, but the team had to face defeat under the Duckworth Lewis rule.

Kohli's ODI career

Kohli currently has 13906 runs in 283 ODI innings at an average of 58.18 and a strike rate of 93.54, which includes 50 centuries and 72 half-centuries. That means Kohli is 94 runs away from breaking Sachin's record. Last year, Kohli scored 58 runs in three matches against Sri Lanka at an average of 19.33. In that series, Kohli scored 24, 14 and 20 runs. Kohli has played three ODIs since the ODI World Cup 2023 final.

Kohli is struggling with poor form.

Kohli has been struggling with poor form for some time now and he will be desperate to regain his form before the Champions Trophy. He scored a century in the second innings of the first Test match played against Australia in Perth, but was seen struggling in other matches. He played in the Ranji Trophy after 12 years, but even there his bat did not work and he was dismissed after scoring six runs off Himanshu Sangwan.

The three-match series between India and England will start from February 6. The first match will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. After this, both the teams will play for the second and third matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Cuttack and Ahmedabad. The ODI series against England is very important in terms of preparations before the Champions Trophy starts on February 19. India recently defeated England 4-1 in the five-match T20 series.
