Air India's plane AI-171 has crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There were 242 passengers on board this plane, including Vijay Rupani. This plane was flying to London when this accident happened.

 

DGCA issued a statement saying that after taking off for London, a Mayday call was issued a few minutes before crashing in Ahmedabad. But there was no response from Air Traffic Control (ATC). Shortly after this, this plane crashed.

What is Mayday call?

'Mayday' call is an emergency process, which is used internationally as a signal of danger through radio communication. When the pilot or the plane is in serious trouble, he says Mayday three times on the radio.

 

'Mayday Call' is an emergency message in any flight, which the pilot gives when the plane is in serious trouble and the lives of the passengers or crew are in danger. When there is a fire in the plane, or there is a danger of collision in the air. Then this call is made. 'Mayday, Mayday, Mayday' is said three times on the plane's radio to indicate that there is a crisis.

According to DGCA, the plane Boeing 787 took off from the airport's runway 23 at 1.39 pm for London Gatwick Airport. There were 242 people on board the plane - two pilots, 10 cabin crew members, and 230 passengers.

 

Smoke covered the sky.

 

A video of the plane has also surfaced. The 17-second video shows the plane crashing in a residential area. In the video, thick black smoke is also seen rising from the airport into the sky.
