In fact, sources associated with BCCI told news agency PTI that the selectors are keeping an eye on all the options. Also, they are keeping their options open for the home Test series against the West Indies.

This situation has arisen because if India qualifies for the final of the continental T20 tournament to be held on September 28, then the Test series against the West Indies at home will start in less than a week. Just a few days after the T20 final, India's first Test match against the West Indies is to be played in Ahmedabad from October 2.

It is worth noting that Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 559 runs at a strike rate of 160 in the last IPL, while Shubman Gill scored 650 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of over 155. At the same time, Sai Sudarshan, who played for Gujarat Titans, won the Orange Cap by scoring 759 runs at a strike rate of 156.

Meanwhile, a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity, "There is a break of five weeks and there is no major tournament during this time, so these three players can be directly included in the T20 team. There will be a maximum of 6 T20 matches in 21 days in the Asia Cup, which is not much workload. However, keeping in mind the 17-member team, the selectors will consider all the options."

Keeping in mind the UAE pitches and the T20 World Cup to be held after 6 months, Jaiswal, Gill, and Sudarshan are considered to be important players of the top order.

Sudarshan, who made his ODI debut in 2023, has been in great form in T20. However, the biggest issue is the availability of fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Both the bowlers have been carefully managed after the workload of different formats and are expected to undergo fitness assessment before the selection meeting.
