Indian Army's Eastern Command chief Lt Gen RP Kalita said on Monday that China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) is augmenting infrastructure capability along the entire international border in Arunachal Pradesh. Under this, it is continuously upgrading its road, rail, and air connectivity as well as the 5G network near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Lt Gen Kalita, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, said in a press conference that India is also continuously upgrading its infrastructure and capabilities to deal with any situation along the border.

He said in a press conference, 'In the Tibet region, infrastructure is being built on a large scale along the LAC. The other side is also continuously upgrading its 5G network along with its road, rail, and air connectivity so that it is better able to respond to any situation and mobilize the forces.
China built villages near LAC
Lt Gen Kalita said Chinese officials have also set up border villages along the LAC so that they can be used for dual purposes. “We are continuously monitoring the situation,” he said. We are also upgrading our infrastructure and capabilities as well as mechanisms to deal with the situation. This has strengthened our position.
Bad weather's biggest challenge
The Eastern Command chief acknowledged that difficult terrain and inclement weather have been the biggest challenges in capacity and infrastructure enhancement in forwarding areas. At the same time, he stressed that the Indian Army is fully prepared with a high level of operational preparedness.
Northeast militants lost ideological support
Lt Gen Kalita said the insurgent groups in the Northeast have lost their ideological base. They survive based on extortion and smuggling of arms and drugs. He also expressed concern over the recruitment drive run by the banned ULFA (I) and appealed to the youth not to participate in it. He claimed that all the youths joining ULFA (I) have a criminal background.
Court of Inquiry completed on the killing of civilians in Nagaland
Lt Gen Kalita said the Army has completed the Court of Inquiry into the killing of more than 12 civilians by soldiers in Nagaland on December 4 last year. He said it was a case of mistake in identification and error in decision making.
