ODI WC: ICC-Broadcaster earn huge money through World Cup, country's economy can increase by Rs 20 thousand crores

This time the Cricket World Cup is creating records on every front. Be it the number of broadcast viewers the number of spectators present in the stadium or earning money from sponsors and TV rights... this event has been a tremendous success in every respect. The first semi-final match between India and New Zealand was watched live by a record 5.3 crore people on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar.

 

The International Cricket Council (ICC) partnered with 20 sponsors for the World Cup 2023. It has six global partners. These include MRF Tyres, Booking.com, IndusInd Bank, MasterCard, Aramco and Emirates. According to experts, ICC is expected to earn $ 150 crore i.e. about Rs 1,249 crore from the event.

 

 

12 percent more time on TV

According to Disney-Star, viewers spent 12% more time on TV compared to 2019. Star and Disney have made a profit of Rs 2,500 crore from this. BCCI has also benefited a lot from this World Cup. More than 10 lakh spectators have reached the stadium and watched the matches. More than 10 lakh fans have witnessed exciting matches in 10 stadiums for 42 matches till the first semi-final. One lakh spectators had reached Narendra Modi Stadium to watch the India-Pakistan match. Now more than one lakh spectators are sure to reach this ground in the final also.

 

With India reaching the final of the World Cup, the number of spectators has increased and the popularity of the tournament has also increased. India has the highest number of cricket fans and no cricket lover would want to miss the World Cup final. In such a situation, the roads in the country are going to be deserted on 19th November and ICC, BCCI, and Disney+Hotstar (Star) are going to benefit the most from this.

 

The economy can grow by Rs 20 thousand crores

This World Cup is estimated to increase the Indian economy by Rs 13 thousand to Rs 20 thousand crore. ICC will release a comprehensive report in two to three months. Britain's economy grew by Rs 3,600 crore due to the organization of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
