Neighboring country Bangladesh is still in turmoil after the coup. Five Bangladeshi citizens who illegally entered the Indian border amid threats of infiltration into India have been arrested in Tripura.
On Sunday, Tripura Police and Border Security Force conducted a joint operation and arrested the five. Inspector Paritosh Das, in charge of West Agartala Police Station, said that these arrests have been made based on secret information.
Admitted to be Bangladeshi citizens
Inspector Das said that intelligence was received about some Bangladeshi citizens illegally entering the border of Lankamura town on the outskirts of Agartala, after which we started this operation. Police and BSF took immediate action and detained the suspects. During interrogation, they have admitted to being Bangladeshi citizens.
Police will seek remand from the court for interrogation
All five arrested people are residents of Chapai Nawabganj district of Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. Tripura Police will present the suspects in Agartala court. The police will now seek remand from the court for further interrogation to identify and arrest the cross-border brokers involved in this illegal infiltration at the India-Bangladesh border.
