The Indian External Affairs Minister has left for New York to attend the high-level 77th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.
Jaishankar's address will be on September 24
The debate in the General Assembly will begin on 20 September, in which world leaders will make their national statements. Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's address will be on September 24. During this, he will participate in more than 50 bilateral and multilateral official meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations. Jaishankar will be on a US visit from 18 to 28 September. He will visit Washington after meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Saba Korosi. This includes the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad countries as well as the meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries. He will also participate in the India-UAE-France, India-Australia-France, and India-Indonesia-France trilateral meetings.
Another tripartite meeting will also be held between India-Brazil and South African organization IBSA. Apart from this, Jaishankar will also attend the G-4 foreign ministers meeting of India, Germany, Japan, and Brazil. The G-4 has been formed by these countries demanding necessary changes in the United Nations Security Council.
It has been told by the Ministry of External Affairs that on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence, a special ceremony has been organized in the United Nations on September 24, 2022. In this also External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India.
