
Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has returned to Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata made a big announcement before the auction to be held before the upcoming season of IPL. He said that former captain Gambhir is joining the team as a mentor. Under Gambhir's captaincy, Kolkata won the IPL title in 2012 and 2014. Team owner and actor Shahrukh Khan is also happy with his return.
Shahrukh expressed his happiness on X (formerly Twitter). A fan asked him, "Shah Rukh sir, why is Gautam Gambhir again in our team KKR?" Shah Rukh replied to the fan and wrote, "Because Gautam Gambhir is our own." He is the captain of KKR and has a family.'' Kolkata Knight Riders' coach is Chandrakant Pandit and the captain is Shreyas Iyer. Now both of them will get the support of mentor Gautam Gambhir. Shahrukh and Gautam have a good relationship. Even when Gambhir was with another team, Shahrukh used to praise him. Both had met several times in recent times. Due to this, there were speculations that Gautam might return to KKR.

Earlier, KKR had also released the official statement of Shahrukh Khan. King Khan said, “Gautam has always been a part of the family and now our captain is coming back home in a different avatar as a mentor. He is greatly missed and now we are all looking forward. We want to see Chandu sir (Chandrakant Pandit) and Gautam taking Team KKR forward and also inculcating the never-say-die spirit and sportsmanship in the team.”
What did Gambhir say on his return to KKR?
Gambhir has worked with KKR before also. He has been the former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and under his captaincy, KKR won the IPL title twice in 2012 and 2014. Gambhir was the captain of KKR from 2011 to 2017 and now he will work as the mentor of this team. On his return, Gambhir said- I am not an emotional person and many things do not affect me, but this is different. I'm back where it all started. Now when I think about wearing the purple and gold jersey once again, there is a lump in my throat and a fire in my heart. Not only am I coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the City of Joy.
