US President Donald Trump has imposed a 50 percent tariff on India. Discussions on a trade deal between India and the US began a few months after Donald Trump took power. Despite this, there was no consensus on some issues between the two countries.
But now, once again, hope has arisen about a trade deal between the two countries. A special envoy of Trump reached Delhi on Monday night. Talks are to be held between the representatives of the two countries in the capital on Tuesday. If this deal is completed, then the 50 percent tariff imposed on India will also end.

Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch has come to India for the new round of the India-US trade deal starting from Tuesday. After this, talks will be held between Brendan Lynch and his counterpart and India's chief negotiator, Special Secretary in the Commerce Department, Rajesh Agarwal, on Tuesday.
Talks on BTA between India and the US started in the month of March this year. By October-November 2025, both countries will have to complete the first phase of the agreement. America wants India to open its agriculture and dairy sector for trade as well, but India is not ready for this. Because these sectors are very sensitive for the country and provide livelihood to a large part of the population.

Since taking over his second term, Trump has adopted the policy of reciprocal tariff. He also accused India of charging high tariffs. After this, after a long hold, America imposed a 25 percent tariff on India. But when Trump was not satisfied with this, he imposed an additional 25 percent i.e., a total of 50 percent tariff on India on the basis of buying oil from Russia.
However, despite the tension, India maintained a positive attitude. PM Narendra Modi praised the sentiments and views of the US President and said that he fully supports him. Trump also called PM Modi his best friend on different occasions. The result of this is that once again, the initiative has started regarding the trade agreement between India and America.
