BJP, including SP, BSP has also released the first and second list of candidates for the assembly elections. On the list of candidates released by the BJP on Saturday, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at CM Yogi contesting from Gorakhpur city. He said that the BJP has already sent Yogi to his house. Shortly after the release of the first list of BJP candidates, the SP president said on Saturday that he will no longer include any BJP MLA in his party and they (BJP) want to cut their ticket. However, later he talked about including one more in the SP.

In a press conference held at the party headquarters, Akhilesh said tauntingly, "Sometimes he used to say that he would fight from Mathura, sometimes he used to say that he would fight from Ayodhya, and sometimes he used to talk about fighting from Prayagraj." I am happy that BJP has already sent him to his house. Though Yogi Adityanath is in Gorakhpur since yesterday, now I think he will have to stay in Gorakhpur. Akhilesh Yadav said I will tell the Bharatiya Janata Party that now I will not take any of its MLAs or ministers. You can cut whose ticket you want to cut. However, he later said 'Lunga to one', but did not name his name. Regarding former minister Dara Singh Chouhan, who left the BJP, he said that Chouhan would soon be included in the party.

BJP has declared the names of candidates for the first two phases of the UP Assembly elections. The list was released by BJP's Uttar Pradesh in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with party general secretary Arun Singh during a press conference at the party headquarters in Delhi. Pradhan said Adityanath will be the BJP candidate from Gorakhpur city and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya will be the candidate from Sirathu. Adityanath has been a five-time MP from Gorakhpur. Adityanath and Maurya are currently members of the state's Legislative Council. Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases. The first phase of polling will be held on February 10.
