Rohit Sharma celebrated his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy in grand style, scoring a century against Sikkim on Wednesday. However, the Mumbai opener's bat remained silent in the second match.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Mumbai and Uttarakhand is being played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday. Uttarakhand won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai had a terrible start. Experienced batsman Rohit Sharma's innings ended on the very first ball; he couldn't even open his account.

Devendra Singh Bora dismissed Rohit Sharma on the first ball of the second over of Mumbai's innings, caught by Jagmohan Nagarkoti. After Rohit Sharma's dismissal, the Khan brothers, Sarfaraz (55) and Musheer (55), played half-century innings. At the time of writing, Mumbai had scored 166 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 28 overs.

Fans Disappointed

Some fans had arrived outside the stadium as early as 6 AM to watch Rohit Sharma bat. However, fans were disappointed by Rohit's early dismissal. According to reports, a large number of fans left the stadium after Rohit got out.

Rohit's Powerful Comeback

It's worth recalling that Rohit Sharma made a spectacular comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 155 runs off just 94 balls against Sikkim on Wednesday. Playing his first List A match after seven years, Rohit Sharma hit 18 fours and 9 sixes during his innings. The 38-year-old's century helped Mumbai defeat Sikkim by 8 wickets.

Mission 2027 ODI World Cup

It is known that Rohit Sharma retired from the T20 International format after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. He had also bid farewell to Test cricket before the England tour last year. The former India captain is now only active in the ODI format and is aiming to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma is currently in good form. He recently scored a century against Australia in Sydney.
