Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday strongly criticised Rajya Sabha MP and actor Kamal Haasan for his controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma. The VHP accused him of working under an agenda to 'defame Hindu society'.
The VHP's statement comes at a time when Makkal Nidhi Mayyam (MNM) chief Haasan stirred up a political controversy by saying that education is the only weapon that can break the chains of dictatorship and Sanatan Dharma.
Haasan deliberately defames Hindu society: Jain
VHP national general secretary Surendra Jain said that those who say such things about 'Sanatana' are either 'mischievous' or 'innocent'. He said, 'Kamal Haasan cannot be innocent. He is deliberately working under an agenda to defame Hindu society.'
Haasan and Ahwad are of the same mindset.
The senior VHP functionary also criticised Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Ahwad's alleged remarks in which he had said that 'Sanatan has ruined India'. Jain said that Kamal Haasan and Ahwad are of the same mindset. Jain said, 'You dare to say so much about Sanatan because Sanatan is kind and allows all kinds of opposition and disagreement.'
Sanatan Dharma connects people with the bond of love and mutual relations.
Jain further said that abusive language cannot be accepted in any civilised society. VHP functionary Jain said that Sanatan Dharma connects people with the bond of love and mutual relations and liberates society and the individual spiritually. He said, 'Kamal Haasan, you cannot break this bond of love and mutual relations. The roots of Sanatan are as strong in South India as in North India. The living form of Sanatan can be seen in the temples of South India.'
Attacked Sanatan Dharma in a program in Chennai
It is worth noting that Kamal Haasan had targeted Sanatan Dharma during a program in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He said, 'Education is the only weapon that can break the chains of dictatorship and Sanatan ideology. Do not take anything else in your hand, just take education. Without this, we cannot win. That is why we should hold on to education firmly.'
'Education should be held firmly'
Kamal Haasan further said, 'The Majority of fools will defeat you. Knowledge alone will seem defeated. That is why we should hold on to education firmly.' The Rajya Sabha MP said, 'True education and unconditional love are difficult to find. Apart from our mothers, institutions like Agaram Foundation are among the few places where we can still find them.'
'In social work, we are crowned with thorns'
He emphasised that the recognition that comes through crowns of fame in cinema is different from the invisible but influential recognition that comes through social service. He said, 'In cinema we are crowned for our acting, but in social work we are crowned with a crown of thorns. It takes a strong heart to accept that crown. Nobody else will do it for us; we have to do it ourselves.'
