The hijab controversy in Karnataka is not taking its name to stop. Now a new case has come to the fore regarding the opening of a separate school in which classes are allowed to be held wearing hijab. After being surrounded by this matter, the government is now seen to be saving. Therefore, the state government has also rejected the proposal of the Karnataka Waqf Board to open 10 schools for Muslim girls in different districts.
State Waqf and Religious Affairs Minister Sasikala Jole distanced herself from the matter, saying she did not know about the proposal. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the proposal was not placed before the government and he was not in favor of such a proposal.
In fact, after the hijab controversy in Karnataka's coastal district of Udupi, preparations were on to open a separate school for Muslim girls, where the school administration would allow girls to come to school wearing hijab. Recently, the Supreme Court also refused to interfere in the matter related to the dress code of the school administration. After this, many Muslim organizations started demanding to start separate schools for girls.
Taking the matter seriously, the Waqf Board had prepared a proposal to set up a separate school for Muslim girls. Waqf Board chairman Muhammad Shafi Saadi had made preparations to open schools in Mangalore, Kogadu, Chikmagalur, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Udupi, Shivamogga, Raichur, Koppal, and Kalaburagi. He said that he had received proposals from many institutions to open the school. In which non-Muslim girls can also study. Local Hindu organizations have opposed this statement of Saadi.
CM and minister distanced themselves from Waqf's decision
There was a plan to open these schools under PM's Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. The board had taken this decision 6 months back.
For this work, the Waqf Board needed a fund of 25 crores. He had full hope that the government would permit this fund.
The Chief Minister said that no approval has been given to establish such institutions. It was not a proposal but the views of the Chairman of the Waqf Board.
Shri Ram Sena President Pramod Muthalik said that if the government accepts the Waqf Board's proposal, protests will be held across the state.
