Today the 10th World Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world. Yoga programs are being organized at different places across the country. Yoga Day started all over the world in 2015. Yoga is an ancient practice of physical exercise. Yoga exercises include physical exercises called 'asanas'. Breathing techniques and meditation. Yoga seeks to enhance general well-being and harmony between the mind, body and spirit. People did yoga on the occasion of International Yoga Day in the capital Delhi.

When was the first Yoga Day celebrated?

But the celebration of this day at the international level started from the year 2015. This year, for the first time, Yoga Day was celebrated all over the world.

 

History of Yoga Day

 

On 27 September 2014, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi called upon all the countries of the world to celebrate Yoga Day in the United Nations General Assembly. The United Nations General Assembly accepted Prime Minister Modi's proposal and announced the organization of International Yoga Day within just three months. After which, the world celebrated Yoga Day for the first time in the next year 2015.

 

Why is Yoga Day celebrated on 21 June?

 

A day was decided to celebrate Yoga Day, which is 21 June. There is a reason to celebrate 21 June as Yoga Day. This date is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. Which is called summer solstice.
