IND vs AUS: India lost in its last match before the World Cup, the dream of a clean sweep against Australia remained unfulfilled

India has faced defeat in the last match of the three-match ODI series against Australia. In the match played on Wednesday (27 September) in Rajkot, the visiting team won by 66 runs. After this defeat, India's dream of making a clean sweep for the first time in the bilateral ODI series against Australia also remained unfulfilled. This was the last international match of both teams before the World Cup to be held on October 5. Team India will go to the World Cup with a defeat. At the same time, the Kangaroo team will enter the tournament with a win.

 

Coincidentally, the first match of both the teams in the World Cup is also against each other. The teams of India and Australia will start their campaign on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Australia has won the World Cup five times and India twice. Both the teams are contenders to win the trophy this time.

 

Team India lost in the ODI for the third time in Rajkot

Batting first, Australia scored 352 runs losing seven wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the Indian team was reduced to 286 runs in 49.4 overs. This is India's third defeat in four ODI matches in Rajkot. Team India played ODI here for the first time in 2013. Then had to face defeat against England by nine runs. After that, in 2015 South Africa was defeated by 18 runs. In 2020, there was a win against Australia by 36 runs. Now there has been a defeat here against the same team.

 

Rohit and Kohli could not play big innings

Captain Rohit Sharma scored the highest 81 runs for India. Virat Kohli played an inning of 56 runs and Shreyas Iyer played an inning of 48 runs, but could not lead the team to victory. Ravindra Jadeja contributed 35 runs and KL Rahul contributed 26 runs. Washington Sundar came to open and was out after scoring 18 runs.

 

Suryakumar could not finish the match

Suryakumar could not finish this match. He could score only eight runs. Jasprit Bumrah scored five runs and Kuldeep Yadav scored two runs. Glenn Maxwell took a maximum of four wickets for Australia. Josh Hazlewood had two successes. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, and Tanvir Sangha took one wicket each.

 

Australia's first four batsmen scored half-centuries

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh played an inning of 96 runs for Australia with the help of 13 fours and four sixes in 84 balls. Whereas David Warner scored 56 runs, Steve Smith scored 74 runs and Marnus Labuschagne scored 72 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took a maximum of three wickets, but for this, he spent 81 runs in 10 overs.
