Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has resigned from Amethi. Now he will contest elections from Rae Bareli, while Sonia Gandhi's representative Kishori Lal Sharma will contest from Amethi. The long-running confusion over Congress candidates from Amethi and Rae Bareli seats ended on Friday morning. Party general secretary KC Venugopal has declared candidates for both seats. In this, Kishori Lal Sharma will contest from Amethi and Rahul Gandhi will contest from Rae Bareli. For Rahul Gandhi, the party has considered Rae Bareli safer than Amethi. Because this seat is still with Congress.
Will enroll today
The last date for nomination for Amethi and Rae Bareli seats is today. Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli and KL Sharma from Amethi will file the nomination today itself. Congress has informed the Samajwadi Party about the candidates of Amethi and Rae Bareli. Congress has invited local SP officials in Amethi and Rae Bareli to participate in the nomination.
The period of manumission went on for a long time
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi had to persuade party leaders for a long time to contest elections from UP. Sources say that he was not interested in contesting elections from Uttar Pradesh. This is the reason why party leaders on both these seats refrained from saying anything. In a meeting late last night, Rahul Gandhi refused to contest elections from Amethi. In such a situation, he was persuaded to go to Rae Bareli citing his heritage. Party leaders believe that even in adverse circumstances, the people of Rae Bareli have not given up on Congress. There is still enthusiasm about the party. This is the safest seat in the state for Congress. For this reason, this seat cannot be left. Rahul agreed to this.
Kishori Lal Sharma got the reward for loyalty
Kishori Lal Sharma originally belonged to Ludhiana, Punjab. Around 1983, Rajiv Gandhi brought him to Amethi for the first time. Since then he stayed here. Even when the Gandhi family stopped contesting elections from here after the death of Rajiv Gandhi in 1991, Sharma continued to work for the Congress Party MP. He is considered loyal not only to the organization but also to the family. After Sonia Gandhi was elected MP from Rae Bareli, Ch continued to work as her representative. When Sonia Gandhi did not contest the elections, Kishori was considered a contender from Rae Bareli, but the party made her a candidate from Amethi instead of Rae Bareli.
Why did Priyanka Gandhi step back?
Party sources say that after Sonia Gandhi was elected Rajya Sabha member, the search for a candidate for Rae Bareli had started. In the initial phase, Priyanka Gandhi showed interest in Rae Bareli. She wanted to contest elections from here. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi's justice journey started. Some party leaders put forward Rahul's name for Rae Bareli instead of Priyanka from Rae Bareli. Priyanka maintained silence on this. His team also seemed to be gradually moving away from the UP elections. Sources also say that Priyanka Gandhi does not want any kind of conflict between her and Rahul Gandhi regarding politics. In such a situation, he told his team that he would contest the elections at any time. His team had submitted its report to Priyanka Gandhi after surveying Rae Bareli as well as Prayagraj, Phulpur, and Varanasi seats. He did not take this report seriously. Since then there was doubt about his contesting the elections.
Fear of losing or something...
The opposition is under attack due to Rahul Gandhi not contesting elections from Amethi. It is being alleged that Rahul Gandhi left Amethi due to fear of defeat. However, politicians are looking at his move from a different perspective. Some argue that he gave more importance to Rae Bareli than Amethi. Even during the Nyay Yatra, his pain towards Amethi was visible. He spent more time in Rae Bareli than in Amethi. He did not even get out of the car anywhere in Amethi. On the other hand, party leaders say that Rahul Gandhi wants to develop new leadership in Amethi.
