The committee formed by the Maharashtra government includes the DGP of Maharashtra, the secretaries of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Minority Department, Law, and Judiciary Department, Social Justice Department, and Special Assistance Department as well as the Deputy Secretary of the Home Department. The state government has issued orders in this regard on Friday. The order states that the committee will tell after the study what measures can be taken to deal with the incidents of love jihad and forced conversion. Along with this, the committee will also study the laws related to it in other states. The committee will also suggest provisions to stop these and will also advise on its legal aspects. The term love jihad is often used by right-wing activists and organizations. It is alleged that Muslim men are conspiring to convert Hindu women to Islam by marrying them.
