After Farooq was apprehended by security guards, the accused, Kamal Singh Jamwal, displayed no remorse during his initial interrogation. He stated that he had wanted to kill Dr. Farooq Abdullah for the past 20 years due to personal reasons. He also stated that killing Farooq was his own motive.

 

 

He explained that it was his cousin Shatrujit Singh's son's wedding, and he himself was invited. He had the opportunity to kill Farooq today, but his attempt failed. He stated that he doesn't work; he owns two clothing stores and receives rent from them. He manages his expenses.

 

 

The accused has also contested the councilor election in Jammu.

 

The accused, Kamal Singh Jamwal, son of Ajit Singh Jamwal, is a resident of Purani Mandi. He has been active in politics since his childhood. He previously belonged to the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party. He contested the councilor election from Ward No. 11 in Purani Mandi on the party's ticket.

The attacker, Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi, Jammu, was apprehended on the spot.

 

 

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, along with Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani, had gone to attend a wedding ceremony at Royal Park in Greater Kailash. After attending the ceremony, the two leaders were exiting and heading towards their vehicles. Amidst tight security, the attacker approached Dr. Farooq very close and drew his licensed pistol.

 

 

He was about to fire a shot at Dr. Farooq's temple when an NSG commando pushed him, causing him to stumble and miss his target. The sudden firing caused panic at the wedding ceremony. Security personnel apprehended the attacker and handed him over to the police. The police have registered an FIR under several serious charges, including attempt to murder. The NC and other political parties have reacted strongly to the incident.
