Manipur: Will CM Biren Singh resign? Manipur government under heavy pressure due to sexual harassment of women

There has been anger and resentment across the country ever since the video of two women being paraded without cloth and allegedly gang-raped in Manipur surfaced. Massive protests are also taking place in Manipur. Amidst all this, the Manipur government is the target of the opponents. Opposition parties are demanding the resignation of the Manipur CM alleging administrative failure. Although CM N Biren Singh is not going to resign at the moment.

 

Manipur CM will not resign now

Some media reports have quoted government sources as saying that there is no talk of the resignation of Manipur CM N Biren Singh and his priority right now is to maintain law and order in the state. At present, the situation in the state is under control. The Central Government is also constantly monitoring the situation in Manipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to organizations of the Kuki tribe and assured them to complete the trial in the matter immediately. The central government is also in constant touch with the state government.

 

Four arrested in the viral video case

Let us tell you that on Wednesday, a video became increasingly viral on social media, in which it is seen that a crowd of people is parading two women without cloth. It is alleged that after this the women were also gang-raped. The incident took place on May 4 and now there has been an uproar after its video surfaced. People\'s anger over the incident is visible on social media and people are demanding strict action against the accused soon. The police have also arrested four accused after the video surfaced.

 

Opposition surrounded the government

After the ongoing violence in Manipur and now the gruesome video of  harassment of women went viral, the opposition has surrounded the central government. The opposition questioned the silence of the Prime Minister on the Manipur violence and demanded a statement from the PM on the Manipur issue in Parliament. Prime Minister Modi on Thursday expressed grief and anger over the incident in Manipur on the occasion of the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament and said that \'the incident is shameful for any civilized society\'. What happened to the daughters of Manipur cannot be forgiven and no culprit will be spared and strict action will be taken.
