Panaji, April 8 (IANS) BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi should come clean on his marital status while filing his nomination papers, a Congress parliamentarian here demanded Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at the party's state headquarters, Goa's lone Rajya Sabha member Shantaram Naik said Modi should explain whether a woman school teacher named Yashoda ben, who the media has often referred to as his wife, was actually his spouse.
"When Modi files his nomination form, he will now have to specify whether he is married or not. He cannot leave the marital status column blank," Naik said.
"Who is she? The media says she is Modi's wife. Should the country not know the truth?" Naik asked.
According to the Supreme Court guidelines, none of the columns in the nomination form should be left blank, he said.
