T20 World Cup 2022 is now less than a month away and in the meantime Team India has suffered a major setback. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was ruled out due to injury in the Asia Cup 2022, returned to the team with the T20 series against Australia but is now out of the T20 World Cup.
According to PTI, Bumrah will not be able to play in this mega event due to a back stress fracture. Bumrah was part of the ongoing three-match T20 International series against South Africa but did not play due to back pain in the match played on 28 September. Now the news has come that Bumrah has suffered a back stress fracture and due to this, he will not be able to participate in the T20 World Cup apart from the T20 series against South Africa. Mohammed Shami has been included as a standby in the T20 World Cup squad, so it is believed that he can join the team in place of Bumrah, while Mohammad Siraj can be put on the list of standby players.
Bumrah's exit like this is a big blow for Team India. PTI said that an official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this. However, there is no official statement from the BCCI on this yet.
