Following the car bombing near the Red Fort in Delhi and the recovery of explosives from Faridabad, the Gujarat Police has ordered a search for anti-national elements in the state.
DGP Vikas Sahay has asked the Gujarat Police to provide details of the number of people booked for anti-national activities in the last 30 years.
Data to be provided in less than 100 hours
Sahay has given the police 100 hours. DGP Vikas Sahay stated that this order was issued in light of the Delhi bombings, following the arrest of suspected terrorists by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the subsequent recovery of explosives in Faridabad.
What did the DGP say in his order?
The DGP stated in his order that police reports should disclose the current activities of individuals previously named in anti-national activities. This directive from the police chief comes nearly a week after the ATS arrested three individuals for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack.
The DGP said in a video message shared on the internet media platform X that on November 8, the Gujarat Anti-National Crime Records Bureau (ATS) arrested some anti-national elements and seized weapons and ammunition from them. Subsequently, an anti-terrorism operation was launched in Faridabad, and a bomb blast also occurred in Delhi.
DGP Vikas Sahay, via video conferencing, has directed all police stations in the state to update the list of all anti-national elements who have come under the radar in the last 30 years. The senior IPS officer said that after updating the list, the heads of various police units have been asked to conduct a thorough investigation into their current activities.
