Prime Minister Modi concluded his Lok Sabha election campaign on Thursday with a rally in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The campaign for the seventh and final phase of voting to be held on June 1 ended in the evening. Since the announcement of the election schedule by the Election Commission on March 16, Modi held 206 rallies and road shows across the country till Thursday evening, that is, four to five rallies and road shows every day.
During the election campaign, Prime Minister Modi also gave a total of 80 interviews to regional and national media institutions. In this way, he set a record of marathon campaigning. The Prime Minister had held about 145 rallies and road shows during the 2019 general elections. In this way, he held more rallies this time than in the last election. However, this time the campaign period was 76 days, whereas in the elections held five years ago, this period was 68 days.
He gave his address for 155 hours
Modi gave an average speech of 45 minutes in each election rally. In this way, he gave his address for about 155 hours. Not only this, he also answered more than a thousand questions during interviews. When the Election Commission announced the elections, Modi was on a political tour of South India. He covered all the five states in these three days between March 15 and 17.
The BJP is trying to brighten its fortunes in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. It did not get any seats in these three states in the 2019 general elections. Apart from this, the BJP is trying to maintain its dominance in Karnataka and increase the number of seats in Telangana.
The success of the PM's vigorous campaign will be known only on June 4 when the election results will be declared. Even at the age of 73, PM Modi left the rival leaders far behind not only in terms of the number of rallies but also in the distance covered across the country. While Modi held four election rallies and road shows in a day, his rivals were seen doing only three election programs. Modi remained the star campaigner of his party and remained popular among the voters.
