Mohammad Zubair gets big relief from Supreme Court, gets interim bail; All cases registered in UP transferred to Delhi

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Mohammad Zubair in all the six FIRs registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. "There is no justification for continuing custody," the top court said. During this period, the SIT constituted by the Supreme Court like the UP government has also been dissolved. Mohammad Zubair has been granted interim bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000.

 

The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave a big relief to Mohammad Zubair and gave a big blow to the UP government. The Supreme Court has given interim bail to Mohammad Zubair on all the 6 cases registered in UP. "There is no justification for continuing detention," the Supreme Court said in its order.

 

The Supreme Court said that there is a need for a consolidated inquiry into the matter. The top court has also transferred all the FIRs registered against Zubair in UP to Delhi.

 

UP government's petition dismissed

 

The Supreme Court dismissed the UP government's plea to stop Mohammad Zubair from tweeting. The top court said, "It is like asking a lawyer not to argue... a person not to speak. Whatever he does, he will be responsible in law but we a journalist not to write." Can't say no."
