Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Mohsina Kidwai passed away on Wednesday. Informing the public, her family stated that she breathed her last at the age of 94. Mohsina Kidwai died on Wednesday morning at Metro Hospital in Noida. Her son-in-law, Raziur Rahman Kidwai, stated that she had been suffering from age-related ailments.
He further informed that her last rites would be performed at the Nizamuddin cemetery around 5 PM. Kidwai was a former Union Minister who had held charge of key portfolios during the government of Rajiv Gandhi. She had served as a member of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha at various times.
A Great Loss to Indian Politics
In the past, Kidwai also served as a member of the Congress Working Committee and the party’s Central Election Committee. Her passing marks the end of a long and influential chapter in Indian politics. She was among the select few leaders who carved out a distinct identity for themselves while remaining active in politics for decades.
Mohsina Kidwai was born in 1932 into an educated and distinguished family in Uttar Pradesh. After completing her early education, she turned towards public life and soon established a strong presence in politics. She remained associated with the Indian National Congress from the very beginning and played a pivotal role in advancing the party’s policies and ideology.
A Wave of Grief in the Political Sphere
Her political journey was extensive and diverse. She served multiple terms as a member of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, and held responsibility for various key ministries within the Central Government. She served as a minister in ministries such as Urban Development, Tourism, and Housing, and contributed to several significant policy decisions during her tenure.
Her demise has sent a wave of grief across the political landscape. Leaders from various political parties paid tribute to her, recalling her contributions. Mohsina Kidwai’s life will remain a source of inspiration for future generations—one who strove to give a new direction to politics through dedication and service.
